Hair Loss Treatments

By

Hair loss treatments is a widely searched and needed area of assistance as hair loss is a problem that effect both men and women and is often cause for great embarrassment and stress for both. Hair loss can be caused by any numbers of factors. Genetics, stress, and medications are all examples of what can trigger or causes hair loss in both men and women. However, the treatments for hair loss are numerous, so each person can find the treatment or treatments that best suit them. As with anything that one is treating, it is always recommended to consult a physician before any lasting treatments are used, and there are other things to consider when wanting to treat something long term like hair loss. The costs of treatment as well as the amount of time that these treatments require are both things to consider. It would also be a good idea to check all the side effects of these treatments, so the patient can better find a treatment that suits them the most.

Male Hair Loss Treatments

Hair loss in men is much more common then hair loss in women, so many of the treatments available are geared more toward men and some are even harmful to women. Most hair loss in men is inherited, and there are a couple of treatments for this. Treatment for inherited hair loss can start with medication in the form of a spray or a pill. Both forms are used to help stimulate hair growth and try and stop hair loss. Someone that is using these treatments should not expect their hair to grow in as full as it was before the hair loss, but the treatments should help with the hair loss and at least cover any bald spots. Oftentimes these medicinal hair loss treatments are used to help protect more hairs from falling out as it is easier to do this than to stimulate the already dead hair follicles. Inherited hair loss can also be treated surgically in hair transplantation or scalp reduction. As with any surgery, there are greater risks involved with this treatment, but these are used more frequently and often are more effective.

Female Hair Loss Treatments

Because female pattern hair loss is so much less than male pattern hair loss, the treatments for women are considerably less. However, the women that experience hair loss are effected cosmetically as well as emotionally just like it does men. Treatments for women with hair loss symptoms are more likely the creams or sprays that are used for men and the pills that are involved in the hair loss treatments can cause some dangerous effects for women that could be or are pregnant. The topical medications have been proven to help some women treat the hair loss and the side effects are noticeably less. However there are some oral treatments that can be prescribed for women. Water pills and estrogen and progesterone pills are both seen as safe and effective treatments for women. Oral contraceptives have also been used for women to treat not only as a contraceptive but also as a treatment for female pattern hair loss.

Natural Hair Loss Treatments

There are also many natural hair loss treatments that are recommended and shown to be effective to stop hair loss. Something as simple as a person’s diet and lifestyle can help reduce the effects of hair loss. Daily exercise and a diet that is recommended help to decrease the body’s secretions and triggers that help in causing hair loss. This can also lower stress level which plays a role in hair loss. Scalp massages have also proven to be a good remedy for hair loss. A daily scalp massages with essential oils helps to stimulate the hair follicles and promote hair growth. There are also many natural oral medications that have been shown to help with hair loss. Pills such as unsaturated fatty acid pills, caffeine pills, black cohosh, and saw palmetto have all been tested and have helped with hair loss. Black cohosh is recommended for women in treating age-related hair loss.

Laser Hair Loss Treatments

Finally there is also the option of laser hair loss treatment. A low-level laser treatment is when the energy of the laser is applied directly to the scalp and the hair follicles that have died in order to use the energy to stimulate hair growth. There are not very many of these lasers that have been approved by the FDA, but with the common occurrence of hair loss in both men and women, the amount of studies with laser treatments is sure to increase.
