Is the saying 'Pain is Beauty and Beauty is Pain' inevitable with bikini hair removal? Whether summer has arrived, you are going on vacation, or you just like to keep the bikini area neat, bikini hair removal is a process that no woman looks forward to. The end result is always ideal but what pain and aggravation do you have to go through to get there? Not only is the method a main concern and point of discussion but with a variety of bikini waxing types like the Brazilian, a woman has a lot of decisions to make before heading to the drug store or salon.

Is the saying correct that pain is beauty and beauty is pain? There are alternatives to waxing the bikini area but do they provide the desired results? With like Nair, Sally Hansen’s, or Veet promise to provide pain free results but do they really work? Products like these contain depilatories that break down and dissolve hair bonds. When the bonds break the hair easily falls off the skin, usually with the aid of a towel or scraper like Veet uses. This method is often preferred to shaving because it does not cause razor burn, cuts, or stubble to be left on the area. These products do not however lesson the amount of hair that grows so you need to use the product more often than one would if they waxed the area. With any of these over the counter products you must test an area of your skin first as many people are often allergic and rashes can occur. Additionally, it is important to follow instructions and not leave the product on too long as blisters or painful skin rashes are known to occur. If waxing seems like too much pain, using these over the counter creams is great alternative and a good starting place.

Professional Bikini Waxing

The most popular method however is waxing because it leaves the skin smooth and lessons the growth of hair the more you wax. Also, it is typically done by a professional so that in grown hairs and irritation does not occur. This does not mean that every person who administers waxing is a professional and you should do your research before letting just anyone slap some wax down there! Finding someone through a recommendation is often the best way to find a trusted person who is well versed in bikini waxing. I have heard many stories of too hot wax causing burns and this result is more painful than any razor burn. The Brazilian bikini wax has become very popular but this is another wax you do not want administered with just anyone. Waxing these sensitive skin areas need to be left to certified professionals.

Bikini Waxing At Home

Another way to wax your bikini area is to do it at home. This is a cheaper alternative and should only be used if you are just looking to wax the sides of the bikini line. Do not attempt to give yourself a Brazilian wax! Hard wax is recommended because it does not require any strips. The wax becomes hard enough so that you can pull it with your fingers. But the main plus of hard wax is that is less painful and helps the hair remove more easily. Doing your own bikini wax is not as easy as it sounds; you have to be able to rip that wax off knowing it will cause pain sometimes immobilizing you. It is not natural to voluntarily inflict pain on yourself.  But once you do it once you will be fine. It is that initial fear that gets in the way.

Bikini Hair Removal Costs

Costs will vary depending on the method you decide to use. Salons will vary price on how much hair needs to be removed usually offering a range of price; price could be as low as $25.00 or as high as $45.00 dollars depending on your hair. Over the counter products range from $10.00 to $15.00 dollars but are used more often so you may need to replace the product more frequently. Waxing should be done roughly every 3-4 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows but the more you wax the less hair will grow back which is a huge long term plus.

Easing into the process is the best way to find what bikini hair removal works best for you. Trying over the counter products is essentially pain free and can provide you with an idea of what it is like to not have excessive hair “down there”. You may graduate later on to waxing as it is more effective in the long run. But with all of the options out there both commercially and professionally, no woman should feel left with out options.
