By John Bonan
There are an astonishing number of hair loss remedies out there to be tried. With hair loss being a concern for both men and women, the demand for the remedies has grown over the years.
Natural Hair Loss Remedies
The first thing people will try to stop or slow hair loss, are the natural hair loss remedies. These remedies are based on natural ingredients and herbs. To start with, it is important to eat a diet that's rich in protein. This would include grain cereals, lentiles, wheat germ, milk, yogurt, green leafy vegetables, carrots or buttermilk on a daily basis. These foods will help in the prevention of hair loss. Other tips to keep the hair, or aid in its return, are, washing the hair with lukewarm water, not hot. Only wash it two times a week, using a mild shampoo. Avoid too much brushing. Massage the scalp for 10 minutes after it has been bathed in water.
Here are a few other natural remedies:
Massage the scalp with honey and egg yolk. Leave it on for half an hour then rinse.
Mix apple cider vinegar and sage tea and rinse the hair with it.
Mix one egg, milk powder and wheat germ oil and massage the scalp with it. Leave it on for half an hour.
Wash with a mild shampoo.
These are just a few of the natural remedies. They sound like recipes, and that's what they really are. The only way to test their effectiveness, is to try them.
Herbal Hair Loss Remedies
Herbal hair loss remedies are a popular choice for many folks. One remedy is a mixture of aloe vera with the herbal powder triphala added to the hair. This should be used for three to six months and is supposed to grow new hair. Also, some herbalists like the idea of rubbing half of an onion on the scalp before washing to encourage hair growth. It is a good idea to wash very thoroughly after this remedy! Chinese herbs 'fo ti' and 'he shou wou' can help. These may be hard to find, but combined with yoga these herbal remedies can be very effective. Other herbal remedies includes rosemary, which is made with tea and rinse through the hair each day. Parsley seeds can be crushed and applied to the scalp every month. The powder should stay on overnight and brushed out in the morning. There are also herbal supplements that can be taken orally to help avoid hair loss. These supplements include Shouwu and Shengfa.
Home Remedies for Hair Loss
Home remedies for hair loss are something else to try in the privacy of your own home. If you happen to have Yucca it can be mixed with water and used as a shampoo. Another home remedy is the use of castor oil, which doesn't sound very inviting, but it works. Also, by massaging almond oil on the scalp 2-3 times a day each day will help to prevent hair loss. Drinking a cup of lettuce and spinach juice each day can also prevent hair loss.
Female Hair Loss Remedies
The hair loss remedies for women may be somewhat different. When a woman notices her hair is coming out at a more than usual amount, she should first see a dermatologist. He can first determine the cause of the loss. The over-the-counter topical creams can work for woman in the same way that they work for men. They enlarge and strengthen the hair follicle and help to keep the hair you already have. These lotions usually come in a lessor strength than the man's formula. Also, offered to women are the hair replacement surgeries. The safest remedy is to purchse a wig.
To prevent hair loss in women, they need to be gentle with their hair:
- Use a very gentle shampoo, even a baby's shampoo.
- Air dry the hair and avoid the hair dryer.
- Style it when it's dry, not wet.
- Switch shampoos now and then.
- Do not tease the hair, because it causes breakage.
- Get perms and color professionally.
Also, diet plays a part in women's hair loss remedies:
- Avoid iron-deficiency diets.
- Eat fishes, chicken and lean meat for the protein.
- Also try cream of wheat, dried fruit, soybeans, tofu and broccoli.
- Taking Vitamin B6 is another good plan. Taking 100mg a day is plenty to prevent the ladies' hair loss.
